Transformative Dementia Training: Learning from Living with Dementia and Bespoke Workshops

Great dementia training is about more than awareness - it’s about understanding how dementia feels, how real people experience support, and how teams can put person-centred care into everyday practice.

As part of my professional training offer is the one-day course Learning from Living with Dementia, a powerful programme created by Dementia Trainers and EDUCATE and co-designed with people living with dementia. I deliver this course as part of my training portfolio, bringing its reflective, experience-led approach into the heart of team learning.

Learning from Living with Dementia – one-day course

This immersive course blends lived experience, evidence-informed practice, and reflective discussion. Participants explore:

  • What dementia feels like from the inside

  • What helps (and what doesn’t) in everyday communication and support

  • How to recognise and respond to unmet needs

  • Ways to promote autonomy, calm and wellbeing

  • Approaches to working alongside families with clarity and compassion

Delivered by me, Fran Hamilton, this training creates space for teams to deepen understanding and build confidence in person-centred care. Many participants describe it as eye-opening, practical, and immediately applicable.

Broader training and workshops for care providers

Alongside this course, I offer a range of practical, engaging workshops and training tailored to the needs of your organisation. All sessions are interactive, grounded in lived experience, and designed to build confidence and skills. Options include:

  • Meaningful Activity in Daily Care – embed purposeful activity into everyday routines

  • Relatives’ Sessions in Care Homes – support families with practical strategies for connection

  • Confident Volunteer Training – equip volunteers with effective dementia awareness

  • Bespoke Dementia Training and Consultancy – tailored programmes shaped around your priorities

Whether you’re part of a care home group, a community provider, an NHS or social care team, a volunteer-led organisation, or a church group, there’s a training solution that fits your context.

Why this training matters

All my training is rooted in real experience - yours, your teams’, and the voices of people living with dementia. That means it’s practical, meaningful, and directly connected to everyday care challenges.
